Vulpix is a small, fox-like Pokémon with cinnamon-colored fur. It has a fluffy, orange crest on the top of its head, and six curly tails which are also orange. The tip of its nose and the pads on its feet are slightly darker than the rest of its body, and the fur on its belly is a greyish-white. Wild Vulpix do not drop anything when they are defeated. Vulpix evolves into Ninetales using the Fire Stone. The shiny Vulpix is yellow rather than cinnamon. It does not evolve from any Pokémon. Vulpix is not currently mountable.

Battling and Catching

When battling a wild Vulpix, they will often escape the battle, making them hard to kill. The best way to catch one is to simply throw an Ultra Ball at it outside the battle.

Vulpix commonly spawn in the Forest, Extreme Hills, and Grassland biomes. Often they can be seen in groups of two or three and are relatively easy to capture.

By Leveling Up

  • While Vulpix learns several moves as it levels up, its evolved counterpart Ninetales does not. It is recommended to evolve Vulpix only after it has reached a specific level, depending on which move(s) you would like Ninetales to have.
  • Note that names in bold indicate moves which have STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus).
